Commissions

It is a huge privilege to be asked to create a commissioned artwork for a client. Whether it’s for a private home or a workplace, it all begins with a conversation, exploring the space where the piece will live. While each work is a unique, stand-alone creation, it’s important that it also sits in harmony with its surroundings.

There are so many things to consider - size, colour, texture, product selection and cultural heritage. The design process can then begin.

Once we’ve settled on a direction, I create a small section of the design using cotton braided rope in the same diameter as the final chosen rope so I am then able to calculate the length needed for the artwork.

Pricing is based on the size, complexity and amount of rope required. Throughout the creative process I keep my clients updated with regular progress photos. I offer personal delivery and installation as part of the service for my clients who live locally.

Testimonials

I commissioned Carol to create an art piece for me, which was a bridge between my home and my family who live in the northern hemisphere. Carol listened carefully to my story as she also explored who I was and my connect to Australia and my love of sailing. Carol created an Irish Heart, made out of bronze sailing rope. The heart hangs in my dining area. Whilst cooking I often look at my Irish heart and think about those I love who are not near me but somehow this heart gives me a connection, a bridge to them, which I value immensely.
